This file shows the improvements from one release of Pro Port Analyzer
Plus to the next. Please let us know if you have suggestions for additional
improvements:
Version 1.00
* First Commercial Release.
Version 1.10 (Released November 19, 1992)
* Recompile with SAS/C 6.0 to reduce size / improve speed.
* Intuition interference for GamePort 1 Pin 9 has been removed.
* No longer requires user to hit 'RETURN' on a normal exit.
* New window layouts.
* Multitasking friendly. Analyzer now properly asks for hardware before
using it. If it cannot get a certain piece of hardware, that
test's gadget will appear ghosted, and that test may not be run.
* Stdio window does not open from Workbench unless an error occurs.
* All around aesthetic improvements.
* All tests will now run until stopped, letting you check overnight.
I have had a request for batch runs (i.e. running multiple tests
overnight) and the ability to run partial tests (i.e. just the
TXD<->RXD Serial check) continuously, and will have those in the
next release.
* All tests except the Memory test will let you select the
informational gadgets (HELP, ABOUT, ERRS) while the test is
running.
* System Configuration screen added to show hardware installed in a
system.
* Audio tester added. This plays a scale on each of the four audio
channels, allowing you to listen for problems.
* Memory tester now displays the type of memory for any block to help
identify the location of any problems (i.e. chip memory, fast
memory,etc.).
* Memory tester now uses more patterns, and thus catches more errors.
* Memory tester should now work properly with CPU Caches enabled.
* Memory tester now lets you scroll the lists while the test is
running.
* Disk tester now lets you select HELP while the test is running.
* Drive buttons in the Disk tester now properly match the select state
of the drive.
* Disk tester now lets you select the ERRS gadget to get a list of
possible errors while the test is running.
* Some holes in the Parallel Port tester that allowed certain errors
to slip by undetected have been closed.
Version 1.11 (Released December 30, 1992)
* Fixed bug in disk checker. It was checking 80 tracks, which turned
out to be only 40 cylinders. Now checks the entire disk (high
density support will be in 1.2, due soon).
Thanks for the bug reports and suggestions, and keep them coming!
